Working on layouts

Probably the hardest job in all of this is laying out the squares and figuring out how to put it all together.  I did not put these up on my hanging working board as I worked so was a little afraid I'd have too much of one color or too many of the same type of things clumped together. So despite my initial sketches and the like to the floor we go to figure it out!

Bebe and AIR quilt Update - Final squares

So a few final blocks to finish up and I'm trying to figure out the right layout for all the blocks before I sew it all together.  I've decided to try quilting as you go to bind it following THIS youtube demo.
AIR's quilt would not be complete without something with a nod to The Phantom of The Opera.  Designed by Michelle Thompson for this project

The Cornish Pixie came out right before I had gotten to the end.  I love how this one turned out, but learned the lesson in needing to differentiate with more contrast because my colors really blended too much.

My first (and only to date) pattern.  Try as I might i could not find any polar bear patterns, so I printed off a picture I found via google, and made this little guy.  He was so sad and woebegone I just love him.

Sherlock's violin (which was handy since she loves Sherlock and she plays violin, and more paint tubes.

Bebe quilt progress

There are just not enough hours in the day!  I think I'm on the final leg of Bebe's quilt, a few more from this week.  Now if I can just get the layouts right and bind them.

Bebe's quilt progress

We're making headway!  I feel like all I do anymore is quilt!!  Here's more of the squares from her Christmas Multifandom
a part of the regular PoD, I actually made a mistake leaving the left side on the bottom of this feather, but I liked the distinction from other quills I've sewn, so I left it!

You can't see it but those snitch wings are metallic - I like the effect it has in person - and those book spines - THAT is so Bebe!!  I love the contrast of them stacked!

Olaf - oh, Olaf.  I wasn't sure if I'd still have sanity at the end of Olaf.  I had to reduce down the pattern 1/2 size to get him to fit (which makes him a total of 5 inches) and let's just say that those twigs are TINY!  Happy with the result tho.

The Championship Egg - I was really surprised at how quickly this pattern came together and while I wish I'd enlarged it now, it worked.  Pattern from the FiS HP extras.

Bebe's Multifandom quilt

So - progress on Bebe's quilt.....Here's the first 10

I borrowed the fishbowl from THIS pattern, and then replaced the fish with Dory  (sized down) since it made more sense for Bebe.  I didn't get the water lined up exact, but I don't think it was an issue at all.  I started with the fish (drawing the water line around it since the original pattern didn't really have any lines) and then incorporated that central piece (you can kind of see it in the picture) into the fishbowl pattern.

I incorporated two Beauty and the Beast references on her quilt - Chip (the teacup) and the Rose under cloche.  Both from FiS

Alice in Wonderland's cat Dinah was always a fascinating cat!  Bebe has a real affinity for cats in general so it doubles in meaning for her.  I need to do the stitching still.

Minions Minions Minions - Can I say I love that she's still not too old to enjoy these minions?  Sewed pattern as is in size, and then propped him on a box to fill the square a bit.  The felix felicis vial is also an extra HP pattern from the FiS site.

Probably one of the hardest patterns to date - this Mandrake takes a LOT of time and patience.  Sewn as is on pattern - there is no pot, so the pot here is added by yours truly. Pattern from the Fis extras.
