What the heck! Getting back to Blogging!

Okay... I didn't fall off the planet.  I am here, I've been sewing and patterning and so many things!  I am updating this blog over the course of this next week with new patterns (and some older not posted) that I've been working on, and lots of project posts!  Enjoy!

So I've done it.
I created my first set of quilt patterns - AND so far so good.  I've created a page pinned just above the blog for untested patterns (and linked the ones already up over at Fandom In Stitches) - Hope you guys love them!

Because I do.
Wait for it....

I love doing these swap pieces.  I've decided I really do want to try some things outside of fandom quilting, so I've signed up for a Greyscale Swap!  My partner really likes geometric shapes, and so I pulled these fabrics to use in it.... Greyscale is a huge challenge! #greyscaleswap

Charity Quilt -Quilting Bee 2017

What. A. Day.

First I have to say these women are amazing.

We had very few repeaters from last year, so we literally were teaching from the beginning all over again.  We decided to use the simpler neon squares pattern that would allow us to show them also how to fussycut fun materials.  We had about 30 women, and 5 hours, and would you believe it?  We got 22 squares done (28 needed for a twin size quilt) - and almost everyone took home an extra square or more than one extra.  Since we do two twin quilts each year, we're nearly 1/2 way done!

Talk about teaching to fish.  I am humbled.

I feel so grateful to be able to do this each year.

Spring into weddings....

I got on to Facebook last night - something I haven't done a lot of this year.  And when I did I got an event reminder.  I never saw the invite so I felt a little bad - it was a wedding shower for a sweet girl that lives here near me.  Her first husband suffered horrendously from PTSD and ended his own life about 4 years ago just after they'd had their sweet little girl.  I know she's gone through a lot.  Fast forward to about 8 months ago when a young man came home from his mission into our ward and it was friendship thick as thieves from the get go.

I thought since their first meeting was on a trip to the temple, it was only fitting I make them the perfect gift....  a personalized wall-hanging!  I was grateful it wasn't TOOO terribly complicated - and I love how it turned out.  I hope it hangs in their home for years and years.  Families are Forever.

FiS Quilt Swap - Take 2

So I got an email a bit earlier that my partner has dropped out.

This is my luck.  It's a good thing that I have kids that would adore this same piece (and have already asked, joked, and wished for it).

For just a moment I was sad about it.  And then I realized...  if my partner dropped maybe someone else did too.  and as luck would have it, that was the case.  so now I'm on a new swap piece....

A combination of a niffler, hufflepuff scarf, and you guessed it... a suitcase I designed myself.  I'm pretty happy with my idea, I just hope it comes out like I think it will.
